02 Mar Canmore – where my ideas were formed

Timing is everything.
From the moment I graduated, I had dreams about running my own business. In my head, I’ve planned businesses for office services, baby’s layettes, executive transportation complete with Wi-Fi and breakfast, a retail store, and a bed & breakfast – just to name a few.

One common theme made it to paper a few times in my life, and that was support for Entrepreneurs. Over the past 20 years office trends have changed somewhat – but the need for Entrepreneurial support continues. The hats of an Entrepreneur are many, and most can use all the support they can get.

Of course, other important factors like family and finances must factor into the equation of starting your own business. At one time, my children were too young – another time, we couldn’t spare the finances for such an endeavor. The list of reasons NOT to start a business can be endless.

Then one day, I just decided to do it.
My family was more independent, there was a small amount of savings to draw from. I was determined to be self-employed, and Canmore was the place I wanted to do it.

The success of a business depends on numerous factors. Based on my Market Research, I had to tailor my plans to fit the demand for services. The more I researched, the more confident I became as I developed my business plan. Fear moved away from thoughts of doing it, and turned into the fear of NOT doing it!

The local community’s eagerness to provide advice and support as I moved toward my goals, then and now, has never been lost on me.

Being an Entrepreneur is Hard.
Any ideas I might have had about working every morning and skiing every afternoon, soon left. When building a business, I’ve learned that this is more likely to be achieved AFTER, you’ve gone through 5 – 10 years of blood, sweat & tears!

Being an Entrepreneur is Rewarding.
I’ve had the opportunity to learn from some great business leaders. They make mistakes too, lots of them – but the way they handle those mistakes has been a great example. Sometimes, an Entrepreneur’s integrity is all that they have – it’s important to keep it intact.

We have great clients – most of whom are entrepreneurs themselves. We enjoy our collaboration with them, and do everything we can to assist in the success of their business.

Timing Is Everything.
The formation of my own ideas has come full circle now.

In 2006, I had to tailor my business dreams to fit the demand for services. Last year, as my team planned for the future, we took the old plans from the shelf – dusted them off, and revised them for the future.

This time, my research confirmed that Entrepreneurs ARE looking for collaboration, inexpensive – yet effective work space, and expert advice as they work hard to make their dreams their reality.

Dreams to Reality.
I am very excited to be at this juncture in my business, and am looking forward to supporting our local business leaders and sharing the details about our Memberships and Programming with you very soon.

Most of all, I’m looking forward to providing the necessary support to my fellow Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders both in Canmore and beyond, as they work towards forming their own Dreams into Reality.
